The 16-year-old daughter of The Flaming Lips guitarist, Steven Drozd, has been found after going missing in Washington.

Band members raised the alarm after teenager Charlotte Drozd (also known as Bowie) vanished in Seattle, Washington, near the Space Needle – she was last spotted on the city’s monorail.

A statement shared with Metro from the Seattle Police Department confirmed that she has been located.

‘The Seattle Police Department can confirm 16-year-old Charlotte Drozd has been located and is now safe with her family,’ it read.

They offered no further details on when or where she was found, or where she had vanished to.

Lead vocalist Wayne Coyne raised awareness on social media on Sunday after Charlotte went missing.

He uploaded a missing poster, which was reposted to the band’s official account – it described her as a 5’7″ girl with brown hair and eyes, who is ‘possibly headed to downtown Seattle’.

‘URGENT!!! Please help if you can !!! Steven’s daughter ( she is 16 years old ) is missing !!! She was last seen at the Space Needle early on Saturday….I’ll post more info as soon s I can,’ he wrote in the caption.

The police department confirmed it had been classified as a missing or runaway juvenile case and a detective from the Missing Persons Unit had been assigned to it, per the Independent.

Steven commented under his bandmate’s upload: ‘Thank you Wayne for posting. We don’t know what to do’ as fans rallied to support them in the search.

Hollywood star Jack Black also reposted the missing poster to his Instagram story to his 14.3 million followers.

In a new update shared earlier today, Wayne confirmed that she had been found.

Under the same poster – which now reads ‘found’ – he penned: ‘Yessssss. She’s found and is safe.. her mother has spoke with her..

‘THANK YOU everyone for all your posts and all your networking and all your support and all your skills and all your trust and all your LOVE!!!’

The band are currently opening for alt-rock band Weezer on their North American leg and stopped in Seattle on Friday, a day before daughter Charlotte went missing.

Their next show is set to be in Sacramento, California, tonight.

The development comes at the same time as the shocking news that 17-year-old musical prodigy Nell Smith – best known for her work on Flaming Lips Where the Viaduct Looms – had died in a car accident, as confirmed by her label Bella Union (created by Cocteau Twins’ Simon Raymonde).

In a statement, Simon wrote: ‘We are all shocked and devastated to hear of the sudden and tragic passing of our artist and dear friend Nell Smith, over the weekend in British Columbia.

‘Nell was just 17 and was preparing for the release of her first solo record in early 2025 on Bella Union, made in Brighton with Penelope Isles’ Jack and Lily Wolter.’

Wayne also addressed her tragic death at their Portland, Oregon show on October 6.

‘We are reminded once again of the power of music and how encouraging it can be to be around people that you love,’ he told the crowd before singing 1999 song, Suddenly Everything Has Changed.
