The elbows were out. “Out of the 12 of us, three had been approached by producers and urged to apply. “So although you’d expect there to be a cross section of society, there’s definitely an element of tactical casting. “With me, they were fascinated by my background in the political sphere. “They kept asking about my interactions with Liz Truss, Boris Johnson and Nigel Farage. “The producers were desperate to hear titbits – and were salivating at the idea of me being able to dish the dirt on famous faces inside the house.” The would-be housemates are given tasks to complete – just like they would on the show.
