McDonald’s UK has been knocking it out of the park of late — from the announcement that the McRib is FINALLY coming back, to the new twist the fast food chain is putting on its iconic hash browns.

However, it seems there’s one trick the company is missing here, and it’s all to do with adult Happy Meals.

Grown-up versions of the kiddie classic have been available on and off in various McDonald’s markets around the world, with a collector’s version recently launching in the US.

And while an adult Happy Meal would undoubtedly go down a treat in the UK, there’s a very specific one that customers will soon be begging the chain to launch here.

McDonald’s Spain just unveiled a Friends adult Happy Meal to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the iconic 90s sitcom. Could we BE anymore jealous?!

It’s the collab we never knew we needed and the stuff that Millennial dreams are made of.

Each box is decorated with a Friends-themed design, and yes, the toys are based on all your favourite characters. Maccies fans can collect little figurines of Rachel, Phoebe, Monica, Chandler, Joey, and Ross.

As for the food, the adult Happy Meals come with a choice of burger, as well as fries and a drink. And because it’s McDonald’s Spain, there are a few burger options that we don’t have here, such as the CBO (a chicken burger with crispy bacon, crispy onions, cheese, lettuce and a creamy pepper CBO sauce), and the McRoyal Delux (the only beef burger on the menu with tomato). Alternatively you can opt for classics such as the Big Mac or Quarter Pounder.

If all of this weren’t exciting enough, the box meal also comes with a limited-edition sauce. ‘Monica’s Marinara’ was created especially for the collab, and while there’s no description for the ‘special sauce’, marinara is typically made with tomato, garlic, herbs and onions.

McDonad’s España shared the news on social media, creating a fun advert for the collab which sees a McDonald’s restaurant transformed into Central Perk, the coffee shop from the show. There’s the iconic orange sofa, and the stars of the ad recreate some of the most famous moments from the show.

There’s some funny hand gestures (à la Ross), a woman running around in a wedding dress like Rachel, and even a how you doin’ thrown in for good measure. Joey would surely approve.

Unsurprisingly McDonald’s and Friends fans alike have been going wild over the news, with @estefy_ez writing in the comments on Instagram: ‘I love you McDonald’s… Pure perfection!’

Similarly @srtanuma said: ‘I want it I want it!!! We have got to go!!’ And @alba.iglesias31 proclaimed: ‘New need unlocked. McDonald’s for dinner tonight.’

Others were happy that there were finally ‘toys meant for grown ups’ and praised the ‘initiative’ hoping that the chain might launch a Disney collab next.

But it seems you can’t please everyone, as some people were upset that adult Happy Meals didn’t include a dessert.

If you happen to be visiting Spain soon, you can get your hands on one of these boxes for €9.50 (£7.96). However, it’s not known exactly how long they’ll be available for.

McDonald’s tends to move pretty quickly with most new menu items only available for a few weeks. Sometimes popular items only stick around for a few days at a time.

For instance, the Grimace Shake was a limited product at McDonald’s UK and sold out in just two days. And the McRib, which returns to Maccies from October 16 is also expected to sell out very quickly.

While we can’t get adult Happy Meals here, the fast food chain might have just launched the next best thing, as they’ve got a new £5 meal deal.

From October 9, customers across the UK can get their hands on four menu items from the fast food chain for just £5.

As part of the deal, you can choose between either a Cheeseburger or Mayo Chicken, and then you also get Medium Fries, a Medium Carbonated Soft Drink, and a side of four Chicken McNuggets for the set price.

The deal gives a saving of almost £2.50 compared to buying all the items individually, and you are able to nab the four Nuggets, which aren’t usually available to buy separately.

As such Maccies claims it’s not just ‘value for money’, it’s an offer that’s ‘truly unique’.

McDonald’s customers will be able to take advantage of the deal in participating restaurants from 11am onwards. But the catch is that you have to go into the restaurant to claim it, as it’s not available on delivery.

Fast food fans might also want to keep in mind that if you try to upgrade your drink, you’ll be caught out with extra charges.
