Chelsea and Nottingham Forest have been charged by the FA with failing to control their players during the sides’ 1-1 draw – but Nicolas Jackson will face no retrospective action for his part in the fracas.

Tensions boiled over in the dying moments of Sunday’s bad-tempered Premier League contest after Marc Cucurella was sent careering into Enzo Maresca after being shoved from behind by Neco Williams.

The incident sparked a heated melee between both sets of players, including Jackson, who had earlier been substituted for Christopher Nkunku at Stamford Bridge.

Referee Chris Kavanagh eventually allowed play to continue following a VAR check and the points were shared after Noni Madueke cancelled out Chris Wood’s opener in a frantic start to the second half.

Footage later emerged which appeared to show an enraged Jackson striking Forest defender Morato in the face, leaving Chelsea sweating over a potential suspension for the forward ahead of the side’s trip to Liverpool.

This afternoon it was confirmed that Chelsea and Forest had been charged but Jackson will receive no retrospective punishment for his scuffle with Morato.

The two clubs have until Thursday to respond to the charges.

‘It’s alleged that both clubs failed to ensure their players didn’t behave in an improper and/or provocative way around the 88th minute.

‘Chelsea and Nottingham Forest have until Thursday, 10 October, to provide their responses.’
