The Voice UK judges and viewers were left stunned by an incredibly emotional performance on Saturday night, that happened to be the singer’s first time on stage.

The latest episode of the ITV competition closed with Hollie Peabody’s rendition of Selena Gomez’s Lose You To Love Me, as they overcame their nerves to perform.

The 21-year-old prison worker had the audience cheering them on, viewers at home in tears, with one of the four judges turning their seat and completing their team.

After wowing LeAnn RimesWill.i.amDanny Jones, and Tom Fletcher, it was Sir Tom Jones who pressed the button, remarking: ‘That was really lovely.’

The 84-year-old Welsh singer admitted he hadn’t heard the song choice before, quipping: ‘There’s a lot of things I’ve not heard before,’ and adding that Hollie ‘created something and stayed there’.

‘I loved it.’

After hearing the praise from the judges, Hollie admitted they’d had ‘a little cry’ before coming on stage, due to nerves.

‘You’ve tamed that dragon, and you came and scorched the ceiling, and now you’re on team Tom,’ Will.i.am told them.

‘You don’t need to be nervous, you did a lovely job,’ Sir Tom added, as his team gained its last member.

‘Auditioning is massively out of my comfort zone, I don’t do performing anywhere,’ Hollie had previously said.

‘It’s a big step for me.’

Viewers were left ‘in tears’ watching their performance, after the singer admitted they were ‘incredibly anxious’.

They went on to explain: ‘The song that I’m doing leans heavily into the topic of knowing who you are and embracing and loving yourself, which is something that I’m working towards as well.’

‘I’m proud of the progress I’ve made to get to the point where I can push myself,’ they added, saying that a year ago they would have ‘walked away’ from the opportunity, and it’s just ‘a win’ to make it to the audition.

‘They should all have turned for Holly – had me in tears,’ @Clarieyalli wrote on X.

‘What a voice,’ @bally1001 said, as @OdeToJamie_ wrote: ‘Don’t normally tweet about daytime TV but Tom and Danny should have turned for holly they killed that Selena Gomez song.’

‘So glad Tom turned for Holly. Beautiful voice,’ @animalmad08 added.

‘Thank God Tom turned, or it would have been a complete travesty!!! [They] have that something special & winner or not, [they] need to make an album,’ @Stevieboy6111 said.

‘Best vocal tonight by far!!’ @mwalkerchef said.

@scott_nathene added: ‘I just love Tom for turning for [them], it’s nice that a normal person not known for being in the music business is recognised. Good luck [they] were fab.’

The Voice UK airs Saturdays at 8.30pm on ITV1.
