Gavin and Stacey photos might finally confirm spoiler we’ve waited five years for --[Reported by Umva mag]
It's been a long time coming.
Gavin and Stacey fans have been in prolonged turmoil (no exaggeration) since the last episode half a decade ago ended on a huge cliffhanger.
Earlier this year, the BBC show’s creators Ruth Jones and James Corden answered all our prayers when they announced a final Christmas special.
Now, viewers might finally be put out of their misery and discover what happened after Nessa (Ruth) proposed to Smithy (James).
Gavin and Stacey fans will recall the 2019 episode cut to the credits before Smithy could answer.
However, pictures from the set in Barry Island for the upcoming special suggest Smithy came to his senses and said ‘yes.’
James as Smithy was seen in a black suit jacket and wearing a wedding ring on his finger as they filmed the final scenes.
Ruth as Nessa was also wearing a ring on that finger and looked like a blushing bride-to-be in a gothic black halter-neck dress.
Other characters including Stacey (Joanna Page) and Gavin (Mathew Horne) were in their finery, looking every inch wedding guests.
According to passersby, they were heard doing the conga as they wrapped filming.
James previously teased that Nessa and Smithy would get their happily ever after.
He shared an image of a sweet illustration showing Smithy’s arm around Nessa, with love hearts around their heads.
The message below them read a lyric from the show’s soundtrack: ‘Tell me tomorrow, I’ll wait by the window, for you.’
On Barry Island, the cast were seen filming on Trinity Street and also in Essex, with fans descending upon both locations to catch a glimpse of the show.
In a video previously shared to social media, Ruth addressed the cheering crowd for one last time, saying: ‘Thank you so much for coming here today and being so patient because you haven’t seen anything because we’ve been indoors!
‘But it shows that you are true committed fans of the show and we hope that you won’t be disappointed on Christmas Day when all will be revealed.’
She went on: ‘It’s our farewell to Barry and to Trinity Street.
‘You won’t be seeing us here anymore. But we’ve had a wonderful 17 years. It’s been fantastic.’
‘Thank you very much for everything, we’ll see you soon,’ James added.
Further details about the Christmas special have been kept tightly under wraps, with reports that the cast have been told to keep their scripts hidden and stay on ‘high alert’ when it comes to leaks, as bosses are challenged in keeping the storylines a secret.
The fan-favourite show aired for three series between 2007 and 2010 and made a comeback in 2019 for a one-off festive episode which ended on Nessa’s proposal to Smithy.
It scored the highest overnight Christmas ratings in 12 years, attracting an average audience of 11.6 million viewers, making it the biggest festive special since Christmas Day 2008.
Gavin and Stacey is coming to BBC One and iPlayer around Chrisymas.
