Googlebox viewers have taken aim after a couple criticised Pete Wicks’ latest Strictly Come Dancing routine.

On last week’s episode of the BBC dancing series, former Towie star Pete won over many with his Samba.

The 35-year-old and pro partner Jowita Przystał performed a lively routine to the theme song from 1997 comedy film, George of the Jungle, during the show’s popular Movie Week.

It involved Pete swinging in on a vine from the judges’ table, where he started off by shaking his derriere in judge Craig Revel Horwood’s face.

However, when it came to rewatch the dance on Gogglebox, married couple Giles Wood and Mary Killen were less than impressed.

‘That’s disgusting,’ she exclaimed.

‘I think he’s got the wrong end of the stick. It’s meant to be about dancing not pornography.

‘All that pelvic circling that he is doing is wrong,’ she added.

Their comments weren’t appreciated by many viewers, who called them out and told her to lighten up.

‘It’s a samba Mary,’ Gabby quipped on X.

‘It’s not disgusting. Calm down,’ ZSeymour86 commented.

‘I don’t normally mind Giles and Mary, but constantly equating things (like dancing) to p*rn and sex is really annoying,’ Jade explained.

‘Clearly Mary’s never actually seen pornography if she thinks Pete Wicks grinding his hips is pornography,’ user mechocolatelove added.

Despite Mary and Giles not approving, the Strictly judges thought what they saw was brilliant.

When dishing out their opinions following the routine last weekend, they praised how far Pete had come since his first week in the competition.

Shirley Ballas calling Pete an ‘unrecognisable man from the launch show’.

‘I love it that you don’t take yourself too seriously but yet you take the dance very seriously. You take risks,’ she added.

Anton Du Beke also said he no long felt nervous watching Pete and Jowita perform, as he marvelled at the ‘changed man’ before him, who was ‘improving enormously’.

Although Craig came in with his trademark criticism to comment on Pete’s ‘lack of bounce’ and him being ‘a bit uncoordinated at times’ but did call the performance Pete’s ‘personal best’.

Gogglebox airs Friday at 9pm on Channel 4.
