Peggy now thinks that Georges breaking up with her was the “best thing that’s ever happened,” as she’s dating a new man, who she met on a night out, and she loves that he’s not a celebrity.

“I am quite a private person,” she adds. “Yeah, I put my life on TV but I didn’t do it for the fame. I didn’t do it for people to know everything about my life.

“I did it for love, because I do want love. My brother’s happily married. My mum and dad have a great relationship.

“Despite my dad being a bit how he is, my mum puts up with it, and you do think I want that, and that’s why I did it, because I wanted that for myself, not for anyone else.

“And I guess that’s the hard bit.

“But no, this person isn’t in the public eye. He’s just a normal guy, he’s not a millionaire.”

Another tick for Peggy’s new fella is that he wants a family – something Georges never wanted.

She continues: “I want someone that wants children as well. Georges didn’t want children, and it’s hard for me, because I do want a family, but you‘ve got to compromise in any relationship.

“And I was willing to stay with Georges, even though he said he didn’t want kids and kids are a big thing for me. So, yeah, I’m seeing him at the moment.

“I just hope he’s the one.”

Hard to trust men

Peggy is refusing to make it official with this man – who’s not in the public eye – until he asks her to be his girlfriend.

She says: “I feel like that’s gone nowadays. It’s like, you go on a couple dates, they just assume it’s exclusive, and yet they can probably still go out and cheat and do whatever they want.

“You need to be faithful, to be loyal.

“Until there’s a name on our relationship, whatever it is, I’m going to keep my options open and just trust my gut, because I think that’s all you can do.”

Peggy also confesses that she finds it hard to trust people, especially after Georges allegedly cheated on her.

She explains: “I didn’t think Georges would do what he’s done, and that surprised me.

“It made me think, ‘Well, if I publicly said that I’m gonna trust this person, and I put my all into it, put my life on the line for him, and he’s done that, how can I trust anyone else that isn’t in the public eye?’”

With this new man not being used to having his life plastered all over social media, Peggy admits she does find it hard that he knows she went on MAFS – but she’s trying not to let it get to her.

She says: “Obviously I’ve married a stranger, and I get that that must be upsetting. But the thing is, when you’re with someone, you need to take them for who they are, and the past is the past. “I’m not asking him how many girls he slept with, or anything like that. I’m not asking the intrusive questions, because I’m taking him at face value.

“And I mean, so far so good, but my trust with men is just diminished, like it’s so hard.

“But I need to trust someone, or I’m going to be single for the rest of my life. It’ll just be me and my dog.

“I do feel hopeful about this relationship, and I’m just trying to trust him.”

Wedding on the cards?

In fact, Peggy is even thinking about getting married again, already.

“I honestly thought my wedding with Georges would be the only wedding,” she says. “It was always Georges that said to me, ‘no, we’re gonna do it properly again.’

“And I was like, ‘No, we don’t need to. Let’s just have kids’ and then I thought, ‘no, do you know what? If he wants to get married again, we will.’

“And then, obviously, when we broke up, I was like, that’s it, I’m done, I’m never getting married again. I’m finished.

“But I would love to get married again. I haven’t lost hope in getting married again.”

However it’s not going to be the lavish fairytale wedding Peggy had with Georges on MAFS.

She finishes: “At my age, when I know the person’s right, I don’t think I want to hang around and plan the wedding for two years.

“I wouldn’t mind if it’s just a close-knit wedding with our nearest and dearest and then focus on house and kids. But I want to make sure we’re financially set up as a couple before I do have babies.”

The Sun reached out to Georges for comment, who denied being unfaithful to Peggy.

He said: “I never cheated on her, it was her actions that pushed me away – the actions we all saw on the show; gaslighting, manipulation, constantly putting me down.

“I received messages during our time together that she was buying Christmas presents for her ex-boyfriend and hand delivering them, so Peggy should stop playing that card. Especially when I didn’t cheat.”
