London Stansted today revealed details of a five-year ?1.1bn investment programme that will deliver wide-ranging benefits to passengers and help secure links to even more global destinations. The centrepiece of the plans is a ?600m extension to the airport?s existing terminal, which will create a bright spacious environment, with more seating areas plus new shops, bars and restaurants to give travellers even more choice than they have today. London’s Stansted Airport is set to fly an additional 200 flights a day after a £1.1bn terminal expansion.

Planning permission for the development was secured last October, as the airport seeks to accommodate an additional 43 million passengers a year and double its annual income to over £2 billion.

Included in the plans are an enlarged security hall, an on-site solar farm, new and additional seating, additional wayfinding kiosks and an upgrade to the airfield taxiway.

A £600m expansion of the existing terminal will also form the centrepiece of the plans, with a wide array of additional bars, restaurants and seating.
