The move appears to have split the fan base, with many mocking the franchise for “woke” pandering

Disney’s Star Wars has unveiled its first transgender character – a Stormtrooper by the name of Sister. The reveal has drawn widespread ridicule online, with many criticizing the franchise for woke pandering.

Sister was initially mentioned in the 2022 book “Queen’s Hope” where the character was described as serving the Galactic Republic alongside Anakin Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi during the Clone Wars.

In a new book titled ‘Star Wars: The Secrets of the Clone Troopers’, the character has formally been added to the franchise’s official lore, depicted as a dreadlock-sporting soldier clad in armor painted in the blue and pink colors of the transgender flag.

“When one of our kind expressed her gender identity differently than her fellow troopers, she feared she’d have to hide who she truly was inside. Fortunately, her brothers in the 7th Sky Corps gave her the name Sister as a constant reminder that she belonged,” reads an excerpt from the new book.

In Star Wars lore, Clone Troopers were artificially grown clones based off of the template of the bounty hunter Jango Fett. The clones were genetically altered to make them age at twice the rate of natural humans and made to be less independent and more docile than their progenitor.

The apparent move to retcon the Star Wars lore in order to introduce a transgender Clone Trooper does not seem to have gone down well with the fanbase, with many ridiculing the decision on social media as “moronic” and an act of “utterly insane gender cult worship.”

“This can’t be real. Gotta be a parody … there is no freaking way,” one user posted on X, while another claimed that the move was made by people who just “love to kill escapism and fantasy.”

“Is anyone else wondering just how bad it can get? We keep hitting levels where I say ‘Surely this is the lowest they’ll let Star Wars go’ and they blow right past it the next day like it’s nothing,” another person chimed in.

Some, however, appeared to welcome the move, applauding Disney for “doubling down on inclusivity and telling transphobes to f*** off.”

“I love this! More diversity in the clones and representation through each of them trying to make their existence more than just being a killing machine for the republic,” one fan wrote.
