The Voice viewers have praised the addition of a massive star to the coaching line-up, calling for her to become a permanent fixture.

After weeks of Blind Auditions, the latest episode of the ITV singing series saw the four coaches then faced with reducing their teams down to three.

To help make the decision, Sir Tom Jones, will.i.am, LeAnn Rimes and Tom Fletcher and Danny Jones were each joined by a guest coach.

Although will’s choice to use artificial intelligence didn’t sit well with many, the performer assisting Sir Tom was a welcome addition.

Hannah Waddingham, best known for playing Rebecca Welton in Ted Lasso, was on hand to offer her advice.

The actress and performer, who has also appeared in several West End shows and has received three Olivier Award nominations for her work, left many of Sir Tom’s team speechless when she walked out to greet them.

‘For me this is the toughest part of the whole show, trying to pick three people from 10. Because this is a very difficult day for me, I’ve invited a very special person to try and help me decide. Please welcome the wonderful Miss Hannah Waddingham,’ Sir Tom said.

As she appeared, some of Sir Tom’s team could be seen in shock and covering their faces with their hands in excitement.

Explaining his choice to have her join him, Sir Tom said Hannah was a ‘strong performer’ and he trusted her judgment.

Watching Hannah on the series, many viewers also said they loved having her part of the line-up.

‘Hannah is the perfect person to help tom with who makes it through. she’s compassionate and kind but she’s also super talented and, as someone with over 25 years’ experience, she knows what to look out for,’ Daisy posted on X.

‘Watching our queen Hannah on The Voice,’ Jennie shared.

‘Hannah Waddingham with Tom Jones? Oh, this is so perfect,’ Scott added.

Meanwhile another viewer begged: ‘Can we please get Hannah Waddingham on the proper panel next year?’

Their praise came as host Emma Willis declared: ‘This is one of my if not my favourite day at work because Hannah’s here.’

After the performances, Hannah told Sir Tom: ‘How do you choose? You’ve already got a ridiculous calibre.’

Speaking to the group before revealing the decision, she told them: ‘You all completely owned the songs and have exquisite tones and have great voices.’

Her appearance on the show comes after it was recently revealed Ted Lasso could return for a fourth season.

According to Deadline, Hannah, Jeremy Swift and Brett Goldstein have agreed to return to the hit sitcom for another round after fans were convinced it was coming to an end last year.

Hannah starred as AFC Richmond owner Rebecca Welton, Swift was her Director of Football Operations Leslie Higgins and Goldstein was player-turned-coach Roy Kent.

The Voice UK continues Saturday at 8.20pm on ITV1.
