Woman raped in Tesco toilets after being followed into cubicle --[Reported by Umva mag]

A manhunt is underway after a woman was raped in the toilet of a Tesco supermarket in Kent.

The suspect followed the woman into the ladies’ public toilets in the Tesco Superstore on Bridge Road, Sheerness, on Tuesday afternoon.

Once inside, the man sexually assaulted her.

It is believed to have taken place between 1.37pm and 2.19pm.

The suspect has been described as a 5ft 3in tall eastern European man, of roughly 30 years of age.

He was wearing a blue tracksuit at the time of the attack in the port town at the mouth of the River Medway, police said.

Police are appealing for witnesses who may have seen the man or who know his identity.

The Tesco branch is located beside the waterfront promenade, several carparks and a McDonald’s restaurant.

Detective Inspector Samantha Stuart said: ‘From our initial inquiries and reviewing CCTV we know there were a number of people who entered the toilet area during this time, including one lady who assisted the victim.

‘I’m really keen to talk to anyone who was in the supermarket at the time and who used the toilets between 1.37pm and 2.30pm.’
