THE dad of a 14-year-old schoolgirl seriously injured in a suspected acid attack says “words cannot express the shock, pain and trauma” she is suffering. The girl was left with injuries which her dad says will require surgery after a masked thug threw a substance at her outside a school in London on Monday afternoon. The manhunt for the suspect – described as a tall, slim, black male – has entered its second day with no arrests made so far. The injured girl’s dad has launched a GoFundMe page to help fund care and long-term support for his daughter. Sharing photos of her injuries, he wrote: “My beautiful daughter was the victim of a devastating acid attack outside the Westminster Academy school. “Words cannot express the shock, pain, and trauma she is going through right now, both physically and emotionally. “This senseless act of violence has left her with severe injuries that require urgent and long-term medical care, surgeries, rehabilitation, and mental health support.” He said his family need help to “ensure the perpetrators are brought to justice” and appealed for information that could assist the investigation. “My daughter is a fighter, but she needs her community behind her more than ever,” he added. LONE ATTACKER The suspect is said to have been wearing dark clothing with his face obscured, possibly by a mask or balaclava, police say. The alleged thrower also rode an e-scooter to and from the scene. It is understood the lone attacker approached the youngsters before throwing acid at them. A staff member then “bravely and selflessly” ran to give them first aid – before sustaining injuries herself. The terrifying scenes unfolded outside Westminster Academy as pupils and teachers headed home around 4.42pm. Officers on a routine patrol were flagged down by staff. Paramedics and the London Fire Brigade (LFB) scrambled to the scene where three people were found injured. The girl, whose injuries may potentially be life-changing, remains in hospital. The boy, whose injuries are not life-threatening, also remains on a ward. In an update yesterday, police said the woman had been discharged. Two cops were also taken to hospital as a precaution after they reported feeling unwell. APPEAL FOR WITNESSES Detective Chief Inspector Dean Purvis said: “From our enquiries so far we believe the two young victims were on Alfred Road when they were approached by a lone suspect who threw a substance at them before fleeing down Harrow Road. “A member of staff bravely and selflessly rushed to provide first aid to the two victims, sustaining injuries herself in the process. Fortunately she has now left hospital. “I know how incredibly concerning this incident is to parents and pupils and the wider Westminster community. “We are in close contact with the school and local authority, and I can assure people that a thorough investigation is well under way, and that my officers will not stop until the suspect is found and arrested. “If you have information that can help us, it is imperative that you tell us immediately. “The area at the time was busy with people and cars. I am particularly interested in hearing from anyone who might have captured dash cam footage that can help us establish what happened.” Scotland Yard said tests are being carried out on the substance and at this stage they believe it to be acidic. “Urgent enquiries are under way to identify and arrest those responsible,” a spokesperson said.
