Oasis frontman Liam Gallagher has hit back following last night’s episode of Saturday Night Live – in which one sketch took aim at the rock icons to mixed reception online.

In this weekend’s instalment of the long-running USA variety show, comedians James Austin Johnson and Sarah Sherman appeared on its Weekend Update section as Britpop icons Liam and Noel Gallagher.

During the skit, the pair reassured host Colin Jost that they won’t break up again before their eagerly-awaited 2025 world tour comes to pass.

‘I’m cool if he’s cool,’ their version of Noel told the host, responding to the question whether they’d still be ‘cool’ a year from now.

‘I’m cool, I’m cool, I’m cooler than you are,’ replied Sarah Sherman’s Liam. Austin Johnson then burst into a rendition of hit song Wonderwall, singing: ‘I said maybe, if Liam doesn’t act like a baby.’

As the sketch continued, the pair broke into a round of sniping, calling each other ‘babies’ and blowing raspberries at each other.

The skit has been almost universally mocked by viewers online, who have described it as ‘cringe,’ likening the comedians’ impressions to Dick van Dyke in Mary Poppins.

Prodding the bear himself, one viewer forwarded the clip to Liam Gallagher on X, asking him: ‘Have you seen this?’

Liam’s response was simple but savage, asking only: ‘Are they meant to be comedians?’

Elsewhere, other viewers chimed in to slam the bizarre attempts at a Mancunian accent and ‘cringe’ humour.

‘Possibly the worst sketch in SNL’s history. Oasis are from Manchester guys. Not London,’ said tweeting_keith.

‘Watched maybe 10 seconds of the snl skit and had to stop from second hand embarrassment it’s absolutely abominable,’ wrote digsydindin.

‘I’ve seen the SNL Oasis sketch and it just confirms the USA is teetering on the brink of being a failed state,’ said MrChris_T.

‘That SNL oasis sketch is the unfunniest thing i’ve seen all day and my dad has already told me 5 jokes,’ said tnybmbi.

Oasis announced their reunion tour in August, with tickets for the 17 planned shows going on sale soon after – and selling out within 10 hours of hitting the Ticketmaster website.

Fans were horrified as the ticket retailer’s dynamic pricing system saw prices skyrocket from an already expensive $135 to an eye-watering £355.

A second wave of tickets was announced last week, giving those who originally missed out a chance to see the band perform in Sydney and Melbourne as of November 2025.

Earlier this week, Liam admitted his fear that media scrutiny might contribute toward tensions between the recently reunited brothers.

Responding to a tweet from a fan which claimed that the media contributed to their estrangement, Liam said: ‘RESPEK. We don’t want to do interviews coz we’re scared of the media asking us intrusive questions and trying to pick holes in our relationship.’

In response to another fan, wondering when the band might hold a press conference in regards to the upcoming tour, Liam responded simply: ‘They ain’t getting 1.’
