During a bilateral meeting in Rabat on October 10, Moroccan Minister of Agriculture and Maritime Fisheries Mohammed Sadiki met with Malian Minister of Livestock and Fisheries Youba Bah to discuss opportunities for expanding economic relations and enhancing collaboration in the agricultural sector.

Key areas of focus included the ministers explored ways to improve livestock breeding and genetic improvement of cattle, they discussed strengthening cooperation in horse breeding, including genetic improvement and training, and the parties addressed the importance of agricultural health and safety.

Both countries expressed satisfaction with their joint agricultural initiatives and the positive outcomes achieved in recent years. They emphasized the strong bilateral relationship and their desire to further elevate their partnership in the agricultural sector.

Morocco and Mali have a history of agricultural cooperation, dating back to the royal visit to Africa in February 2014. This visit led to the signing of a cooperation agreement in livestock breeding and a partnership protocol in the equine sector.

Agricultural trade between the two countries is currently in Morocco’s favor, with an average of 213 million dirhams in surplus. Mali exports products such as mangoes, mangosteens, guavas, cotton, gum arabic, conifer resin, and nutmeg to Morocco, while Morocco exports chicken eggs, potatoes, fresh onions, and other products to Mali.
