PRINCE William and David Beckham have been criticised after an official visit to an air ambulance base.

The Prince of Wales and the footballer visited London’s Air Ambulance base at RAF Northolt yesterday to see the two new helicopters purchased via fundraising.

The prince is a royal patron of the charity, which has commended him for his “instrumental” support alongside Beckham, who has also backed the cause.

However, Brits have been quick to slam the pair, claiming their “pocket change” would have easily covered it, and claiming that taxpayers fund the royals’ helicopters.

Wills and Becks were photographed meeting with pilots, medical crew and former patients of the air ambulance.

A post from the Prince and Princess of Wales’ official social media acknowledged those that fundraised £15m for the new helicopters but has received a slew of backlash

The two can be seen speaking to crew members and watching them give demonstrations.

A snap of them next to one of the new helicopters inside a hangar was reposted to social media yesterday with the caption: “David Beckham and Prince William celebrating you raising £15m for the London Air Ambulance Charity as if they did it.

“Either of them could have done it with their pocket change.”

It has since received over 8,500 likes and more than 710 comments from Brits quick to share their own opinions on the news.

One wrote: “When are the people of the land going to stop looking up at people. And start looking at themselves.

“F**k all these people including celebrities, they are all crooks. You pay and give your power away to these fools then wonder why the working class get f****d every time.”

A second commented: “Either or both could have donated a helicopter and not missed the cash.”

Another agreed: “Unless they both said they would each personally match the public donations then get them out of that shot and let’s see the faces of the real fundraisers.”

A fourth said: “Wally and Beckham are abusing the air ambulance by using them to stage their own PR.

“They did not raise the money but they are there to use the air ambulance to make the two of them look good – and people are applauding these two for being users.”

Another added: “Yes I totally agree.

“Plus it’s quite ironic, because we the taxpayer have had to foot the bill for two brand new helicopters for the royals, which is part of the reason their funding has ballooned.

“We are mugs aren’t we.”
