The driver of the white car didn’t stop at the scene, Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary confirmed. The force said: ‘Luckily, nobody was injured as a result. ‘The ambulance was not conveying any patients at the time, but was on a blue light run and this caused a considerable and potentially life-threatening delay in getting to that patient, who was attended to by another ambulance instead.’ The crash caused around £26,000 worth of damage to the ambulance and it will be out of action for a month. A number of ‘lines of enquiry’ are on going to ‘identify this vehicle and its driver,’ the force said. ‘If you are this driver, or know who they are, please contact us,’ it added.
