Paul Gascoigne says Manchester United star should ‘definitely’ leave club --[Reported by Umva mag]

Paul Gascoigne has urged Marcus Rashford to leave Manchester United and make a surprise move to Italy.

Rashford is going through another difficult spell at Old Trafford after a poor 2023-24 campaign which culminated in Gareth Southgate leaving him out of his England squad for Euro 2024.

The 26-year-old, who has been at Manchester United since the age of seven, ended a 13-match run without a goal in the 3-0 win over Southampton last month and then scored a brace three days later against League One side Barnsley.

But Rashford was then dropped for the trip to Crystal Palace before he struggled and attracted criticism for his performances against Twente and Tottenham.

Rashford scored only his fourth goal since March in the 3-3 draw with Porto at the start of the month before being subbed off in the goalless draw with Aston Villa prior to the international break.

Ex-England star Gascoigne says Rashford is an ‘unbelievable player’ but has questioned his commitment to Manchester United and suggested he would benefit from a move to a European club.

French champions Paris Saint-Germain have shown interest in Rashford previously but Gascoigne believes playing in Italy would ‘shake him up’ and prove beneficial to his career.

Asked if he believes Rashford should leave Manchester United, Gazza told SportsCasting: ‘Yeah, definitely, I think so.

‘I love Rashford, I think he’s an unbelievable player but he just doesn’t seem to care. Even when he scores, he doesn’t seem happy about it so there’s something going on there.

‘If that’s the case just move on. You get a couple of players that move on and then they find something different.

‘For Rashford, he doesn’t seem happy playing in England anyway. And some good clubs will come in for him. Go to Italy, that’ll shake him up.

‘It shook me up. I remember when I signed for Lazio, it was funny. I said to my Dad, “we’ll go and watch them for a week first.” I watched the warm up and I went, “wow, that’s some training session.” And the coach went, “that’s the warm-up.”

‘And I started crying a bit. I went, “Dad, there’s no way I can do that. F*****g no way.” Like 20 odd laps, just on a warm up. And then half an hour doing different stretches.

‘My Dad went, “well, you better f*****g get used to it because I’ve found a villa already and I’m moving in there.”

‘That’ll shake him [Rashford] up a bit, going abroad.’

Rashford will look to impress on Saturday when Manchester United return to Premier League action against Brentford.

The forward was overlooked by England interim manager Lee Carsley for the Three Lions’ recent games against Greece and Finland.
