Tommy Fury was asked directly about the breakdown of his relationship with Molly-Mae Hague, and viewers weren’t happy with the response.

The 25-year-old professional boxer appeared on This Morning to promote a new autobiography in his first TV interview since the split. Ben Shephard and Cat Deeley seized the opportunity to ask Tommy questions about the split that shocked the nation.

The hosting duo repeatedly asked Tommy to divulge information, but the Love Island star seemingly tried to dodge the questions. This has led viewers to calling the conversation a ‘waste of time’.

Initially, Ben, 49, and Cat, 47, asked how he’s been coping in the aftermath of the public breakup.

‘I am feeling okay, good. It’s been tough for me,’ he responded.

‘It’s been hard times. I’ve been knuckling down in my training and taking my daughter to ballet, swimming, messy play.’ Tommy shares one-year-old daughter Bambi with former fiancé Molly-Mae, 25.

‘I’ve just been keeping myself busy and I’m very excited to launch the book today.’

Trying to delve deeper, Ben then asked how he was coping with the negative comments.

‘There has been a lot of critics out there, and there will be to the day I die. Out of respect to Molly, and our relationship, we will deal with it in private,’ he stated.

It was then pointed out that he decided to add an extra chapter to Lightning Can Strike Twice: My Life as a Fury, suggesting he may talk about some aspects.

‘Like I say, I’m going to leave all that stuff for me and Molly to work through,’ he repeated.

‘Because a lot of stuff has been put out there. The whole world has seen what we’ve been going through for the last month or two months.’

When it’s suggested he ‘categorically denies’ cheating in his book, he explained that he found he could speak ‘freely’ in the written word. He then encouraged people to buy the book if they wish to know his exact thoughts.

‘Me and Molly and Bambi are a family unit, and we’re going to tackle this in private,’ he concluded.

Quizzed about whether he wants to get back together with Molly because the pair and Bambi seem like a ‘wonderful team’, Tommy once again mostly stuck to the script. He echoed his previous sentiments that he wouldn’t be sharing too much to respect his former partner.

‘I’m going to let us deal with that in private, as much as we can. I’m just happy to be here today and talk about my book,’ he said, in a not-so-subtle suggestion, that they move on from the topic.

However, he did add: ‘Like I say, it’s my family and I love them until the day I die.’

After tuning into the segment, viewers let their feelings of disappointment be known on social media.

Taking to X, TheeQueenJay1 typed: ‘What a waste of 12 minutes.’

‘This has been 10 minutes longer than it needed to be,’ sniped FuzzyBeePants.

While Steve fumed he ‘couldn’t care less’ about the interview. If anyone has Steve for Secret Santa this year, we would probably advise avoiding Lightning Can Strike Twice: My Life as a Fury by Tommy Fury.

TweetsbyGeordie was disappointed Tommy ‘dodged’ questions. ‘If he did nothing wrong then why not talk about it. Very quick to put everything out there when it benefits them though,’ she wrote.

Molly-Mae announced her split from Tommy in August in a shock statement. Similarly to Tommy, Molly-Mae decided not to provide the reason for the split.

‘After five years of being together, I never imagined our story would end, especially not this way. I am extremely upset to announce that mine and Tommy’s relationship has come to an end,’ she wrote.

The couple, who fell for each other during the 2019 series of Love Island, have both remained united in making Bambi their priority.

This Morning airs weekdays from 10am on ITV1.
