Lily Allen has been famously brunette throughout much of her career but recently transformed into a redhead, with her latest cut striking comparisons to a music legend.

The Smile hitmaker, 39, unveiled her new cut to her 1.7million followers this week and was instantly compared to the late, great David Bowie.

Lily, who previously sported a sleek and straight hairstyle with a sweeping fringe, now has a bright orange mullet, with her long locks chopped into a shaggy do.

The snaps she shared showcased her new look from all angles, with her hair sitting just above her shoulders.

Pulling off the rock chic style with ease, the LDN singer posed wearing a beige jumper and copious gold bracelets, a Hermes handbag resting on her arm.

In a nod to the Starman icon, who died in 2016, Lily wrote in her caption: ‘Getting Ziggy with it. Thank you @Hermes for having me last night. Always a pleasure.’

‘Wow love it! The best style on you yet & you suit them all ????’, said theoldpotatostore.

‘Yes Bowie queen!’, exclaimed mal_al_b.

‘Hellll yeahhh! Ziggy Stardust looks SO good on you ⚡️’, echoed charlottesometimes.x.

Lily was also compared to Rihanna, who is well known for her ever-changing hairstyles, having sported everything from a raven-coloured bob to flame-toned curls over the years.

The popstar’s image overhaul comes as she continues to make headlines with remarks about her personal life.

In a heartbreaking confession, she recently admitted that she had kids for the ‘wrong’ reasons.

Lily is a mum to two daughters, Marnie, 12, and Ethel, 11, whom she shares with her ex-husband, Sam Cooper.

During an episode of her hit BBCpodcast Miss Me?, Lily told best pal Miquita Oliver that she felt pressured to start a family.

‘I think I had children for all the wrong reasons, really, because I was yearning for unconditional love, which I haven’t felt in my life since I was a child,’ she shared.

Lily added: ‘Also, my career was at such a high speed, you know, high pressure, and I’m a people-pleaser, and I felt, like, very overwhelmed by what was happening.

‘I just didn’t get much respite, and I felt like the one way to stop people hassling me, it’s not about me, it’s about this other person that’s inside me.’

Lily has also recalled harrowing events in her personal life, such as the time she was sexually assaulted by a man she was working with.

Explaining her shock, she revealed that her close pals defended the perpetrator, describing the time in her life as ‘really horrible’.

Stating that she ‘made it known’ what had happened to her, Lily was left stunned when ‘nobody put anything in place to protect [her] or what had happened to [her].’
