Bukayo Saka has returned to Arsenal for treatment after being forced off for England against Greece.

The Gunners star suffered a suspected hamstring injury midway through the second-half at Wembley on Thursday night.

‘He’s being assessed,’ Carsley said in his post-match press conference. ‘In the build-up to the first goal you could see that he had felt something in his leg.’

Sky Sports News have now confirmed Saka has left the England camp to return to his club for further assessment and will have no role to play for the Three Lions on Sunday against Finland.

Saka has been in wonderful form this season with Arsenal a point off the top of the Premier League. But fans will now face an anxious wait to find out the severity of the issue.

Arsenal return to action against Bournemouth on Saturday 19 October.

Liverpool star Curtis Jones has also withdrawn from the squad. Harry Kane and Jack Grealish meanwhile have returned to training ahead of the trip top Finland having missed this week’s humiliating defeat.

After Thursday’s game, Saka was spotted gingerly walking through the mixed zone at Wembley.

Arsenal will hope it is nothing serious having already had rotten luck during international breaks this season.

Martin Odegaard suffered a ‘significant’ ankle ligament injury during September’s break while playing for Norway. The club captain has missed his side’s last seven games but was pictured back running on the treadmill at the club’s training facilities this week.

Thomas Partey meanwhile withdrew from the Ghana squad ahead of an Africa Cup of Nations double header against Sudan. Kai Havertz also left the Germany squad ahead of games against Bosnia Herzegovina and Netherlands.

Both players however are expected to be available for the trip to Bournemouth next week.
