Sir Elton John is known for his eye-catching ensembles, from his feather bowers to bedazzled sunglasses, but his most recent accessory is the most surprising yet.

While attending the premiere of his new biopic Never Too Late in London on Thursday night, the Rocket Man singer, 77, looked dapper in a brown suit with matching brown Adidas sneakers and thick black sunglasses.

Wearing a pink shirt with yellow and white stripes, the star also donned an impressive gold ring and a single dangle earring, but the main attraction of his outfit was the necklace.

Polished and trimmed with gold and diamonds, the five-time Grammy winner appeared to be wearing his old kneecap around his neck.

Elton underwent a knee replacement in January and another soon after. The surgeries came just three years after he had his hip replaced in 2021 following a fall, which delayed his 330-date Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour

Elton has not confirmed whether the necklace was, in fact, his old kneecap.

However, he joked during the New York City premiere of the biopic, which was directed by R. J. Cutler and Elton’s husband, David Furnish that ‘there’s not much of me left’.

‘I don’t have tonsils, adenoids or an appendix. I don’t have a prostate. I don’t have a right hip or a left knee or a right knee,’ he said via People Magazine

‘In fact, the only thing left to me is my left hip. But I’m still here. And I can’t thank you [enough], you’re the people that made me.’

‘I want to thank David, Zachary and Elijah for making me the happiest man in the world.

‘I found complete and utter happiness and bliss when I met David, and when I had my children, our children. And it satisfied me so much. I’ve never felt happiness like I have now.’

Elton recently issued a statement about his health and the difficulties he faced over the summer due to a severe eye infection

‘Over the summer, I’ve been dealing with a severe eye infection that has unfortunately left me with only limited vision in one eye,’ the Your Song legend penned on Instagram.

He continued to say that while he is ‘healing’, it is an ‘extremely slow process’ and his doctors have told him it will be quite a while before his sight returns to his eye.

‘I have been quietly spending the summer recuperating at home, and am feeling positive about the progress I have made in my healing and recovery thus far.’

Despite his recent health troubles and retirement from touring last year, Elton hasn’t ruled out performing live completely, according to a candid excerpt from his new book, which was published on September 24.

The singer said in Farewell Yellow Brick Road: Memories Of My Life on Tour: ‘I’ve been clear with my fans that while the Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour is the culmination of my touring career, I still plan to perform live.

‘What this will entail I don’t know yet.’

Elton John: Never Too Much will premiere in cinemas on November 15 before being released on Disney+ on December 13.
