On September 7, more than 2,600 kg of cocaine were seized at Bissau airport.

On October 4, 2024, a cargo ship carrying 3,281 kg of cocaine was intercepted by Spanish authorities off the Canary Islands, the Guinea-Bissau judicial police reported on Thursday, October 10.

The ship, named RAS and flying the Tanzanian flag, had left Guinea-Bissau. Ten crew members were arrested.

This operation, coordinated by Spanish Customs in cooperation with French Customs and several international agencies, received support from the Guinea-Bissau Judicial Police, the country from which the cargo ship had departed.

This is not the first time that Guinea-Bissau has been at the heart of a drug trafficking case.

On September 7, more than 2,600 kg of cocaine were seized at Bissau airport on a jet from Venezuela. The drug was incinerated in accordance with local legislation.
