Study shows which gamers have the highest IQ – look away now EA Sports FC fans --[Reported by Umva mag]

EA Sports FC 24 might be at the bottom, but can you guess which games are played by the smartest among us?

Surveys are commonplace in the video games business, as industry leaders gauge the market, with one report finding that 71% of Americans play games, while also hinting that gamers are becoming more hardcore than they used to be.

There are all sorts of polls though, with another recent survey, released by Konami in the aftermath of the Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater remake trailer, upsetting one fan so much he said Metal Gear was dead to him.

Surveys about gamers’ intelligence aren’t something we’ve come across before, but a new report involves just that, with League Of Legends fans topping the list with the highest IQ, while EA Sports FC 24 fans are at the bottom.

WatchBingo surveyed 1,002 gamers to assess their IQ, via verbal communication, mathematics, logic, and visual reasoning, ‘with a team of psychologists to administer an intelligence test’.

After asking them which games they preferred to play, and which console they use, the site made a list of 20 titles, including Counter-Strike, Baldur’s Gate 3, Overwatch 2, Dota 2, Call Of Duty, and Rocket League.

The average IQ in the world is measured at 100, and when ranked from highest IQ to lowest, the list is as you see below.

The site also ranked the IQ scores by which console participants use, with PC (114.1) coming out on top, followed by PlayStation (111), Xbox (105.9), Nintendo Switch (103.4), and lastly mobile/tablet (99.9).

The survey also put men and women against each other, with female gamers (107.9) deemed smarter than men (105.8).

The report doesn’t specify which questions were asked in the survey, and it’s hard to conclude much from this list, but the sports genre isn’t exactly looking great.

The top of the list is quite diverse, but games like League Of Legends and Baldur’s Gate 3 certainly require a lot of deep thinking and strategising.

In fact, six month after Baldur’s Gate 3 had come out, 50% of fans hadn’t even beaten the game’s first act, because it’s so big and every action can impact something else.
